Helping owners and renters live better together.
Collect move-in movies on RentHelper and know that your new renter is who they say they are.
Some professional tenants steal the identity of a good renter. They submit this other renter’s name and social security number to pass your background check. This is fraud.
Before a renter can pay on RentHelper, we verify their name, social security number (if available) and ID. This means the ID is valid and the person holding it matches the picture.
This hand drawn fake is obvious, but the real looking ID beneath it is also fake.
Renter moving from abroad? No problem. Our ID database covers passports, visas and permanent residency cards. All US states and territories are also covered.
It takes us just a few seconds to verify a real renter’s identity. Identity verification does not slow or delay your move-in.
RentHelper has routinely identified fake IDs and stopped fraudulent payments to unsuspecting landlords and property managers.
When move-in monies clear, you can trust you’re handing keys to the person who passed your rental application.
Enroll yourself as a landlord, owner or property manager. Send the enrollment link to your renter. Ask them to enroll and pay the move-in monies for your apartment. If you get paid, the ID was valid. It’s that simple.
Yes! Have every adult enroll in RentHelper. Each will enter their share of rent as the amount due.
No, identity verification is part of enrolling a renter to pay via RentHelper.
Yes, but only indirectly. We do not provide the results of our identity verification to landlords. If an identity is verified, we will allow funds to be paid. You will then receive the requested move-in monies. If you do not receive funds, you can assume the identity was not verified.
If a renter lacks any form of photo identification and there is good cause, you can still choose to rent to them on your own. We cannot transact funds for renters without a government issued ID. If you are an established customer, please contact us.
